Poetry For the signs: MArch 2022

"The revival of the column."--Bella Schainker, 8th grade

Aries (March 21-April 19):
You’ve been gifted glass eyes.
What’s been unseen will be 
clear to you and for now
ego pushes against logic. 
You yearn for a core, something to grab onto— 
a distraction. 

Taurus (April 20-May 20):
There is no need to admire 
what you find uncommendable.
​No reason to give attention 
to what you not love and respect.
Find fondness in what you were,
and are fond of, lay to rest
worry on your shoulders.
Anxiety shouldn’t eat at your joy.

Gemini  Pt 1 (May 21-June 20):
Nothing is permanent, and that’s fine.
Take your mind off the big picture,
you change and so does the world--
even if you change at different paces.
Forgive yourself for growing
at your pace. Even when it feels like it,
the world is not leaving you behind.

Gemini  Pt 2 (May 21-June 20):
Your attention can be tamed,
unnecessary thoughts are exactly that--
catch your mind before it wanders away
and focus on what needs to be done.

Cancer (June 21-July 22):
Don’t ask for directions,
be lost. Subsist with 
just being. You don’t have to 
understand, there’s no need to get it.
Find yourself learning 
from your questions 
rather than their answers.

Leo (July 23-August 22):
Each day doesn’t have to be a performance.
It isn’t selfish to not smile.
Give yourself your own attention:
stand in the mirror,
there is no need for a crowd
until you can be happy alone.

Virgo (August 23- September 22):
Don’t take advantage of yourself,
don’t take yourself for granted.
You don’t have any reason 
to be so critical. Give yourself 
your own approval, the only
validation you can truly believe

Libra (September 23- October 22):
Sometimes doors are left open 
for you to walk through. Sometimes
doors are locked, leaving you to find 
the key. Sometimes there is no door
and you’re left to build it. Don’t wait 
for the door to open itself—work 
to find a way to push it down.
It’s up to you to get through. 

Scorpio (October 23- November 21):
Think of your thought’s heartbeats
soft or frantic, loud in your ears,
scattering your brain.
Look past your consciousness, 
find ways to access the world 
without the clutter.
Each thought doesn’t need 
a life of its own.

Sagittarius (November 22- December 21):
Think of days as a verb,
a 24 hour unit, but also 
an action: a frayed string 
of all your thoughts, movements 
until they meld together, mostly 
forgotten. The action of a day shouldn’t 
take all your energy. It should 
be a string you can rely on, control
without severing.

Capricorn (December 22- January 19):
You are constantly adapting,
changing yourself to better fit 
the situation. You only need 
to change your perspective,
not your personality.
Stay conscious of your surroundings,
but allow yourself distance 
for the richest lessons.

Aquarius (January 20- February 18): 
You trip into an abundance 
of luck. How fortunate 
with fortune. Consideration 
and sympathy can lead you
 to great opportunity.
Just don’t grow too comfortable 
with your chances.

Pisces: (February 19- March 20):
If you climb a mountain for praise 
and still aren’t happy, descend 
and go a different direction.
It’s not the end of the line to hit a wall.
You have to find a way 
around life’s obstacles, even 
if there’s no applause.
