As Spring Break nears, students are getting ready for eight days, including the weekend, off of school, students could do anything from a week of relaxation to going sledding in the snow. But what are students planning to do during that time? I interviewed a few students to find out.
“I’m super excited,” Charlotte Porter says, “I’m going to meet my friend who I’ve known for two years. I’m going to stay overnight at this haunted place which will be fun and I'm going on a ghost tour at this other haunted place so that will be fun. Yeah, I'm going to see some of my family who live in Michigan which is my cousins and my grandma and my aunt and uncle. I’m also spending the break with my mom.”
And while some people, such as Porter, have grand plans for the break, some people are just planning to relax and take a break from the constant ‘go, go, go’ of school. Take Trevor Walton for example.
“I’m excited because I've been having to do a lot of work and it would be nice to just take a break and relax.” Walton explains, “Sometimes we don’t get to spend time with family because we have so much work. After hard work, you always need a break because if you have no break you will be tired and overdo yourself. Spring break is special to me because I’m always happy that I can relax. I’m stressed a lot, this is a perfect time to let the stress out and just relax.”
There seems to be a general excitement among the students for the eight days of freedom to come, but is this true for everyone?
“I’m sort of ‘meh’,” Grace Triantafyllos reports “because there’s gonna be a lot of homework for me and I'm not going anywhere. The week we come back there is a performance and I’m stressed about that. It’s just stressful. My plans are to do a lot of homework and write some dystopian sci fi for the reading. I’m also gonna play a lot of video games. I’m probably gonna like, play some Gran Turismo with my dad and watch some Netflix.”
More than anything else, people seem excited, but are they satisfied with the time that they’ve been given? I asked some of the students if they thought that the break should be longer.
“School stresses me put so much,” Porter says, “if I didn’t have that break I would just break down! Haha, puns! I think it should be longer because I hate school….. Yeah”
“Teachers give students so much work,” Walton replies, “it’s a load to carry so we should have a longer spring break to relax a little more.”
Most people, however, are ready for their eight days of relaxation. Have a great break!
