"Oakland School for the Arts has a new club, the Cooking Club!" - Lana Richard
Oakland School for the Arts has a new club, the Cooking Club! The cooking club is where you can make delicious yet healthy food, and you can make new friends from all three of the middle school grades.
Ciena Brooks, a Visual Arts student, started this club because she wanted fellow students to learn how to make food that is easy to cook at home without mess or hassle.
According to Ms. Brooks, “The cooking club is important because learning how to cook is important so that when you grow up you can take care of yourself, and be healthy. Also after you make the food you get to eat it.
That is important because if you already ate your lunch and you are still hungry, you can go to the cooking club make food there and then eat it. Many people who are in the cooking club enjoy it, they like the food that we make and meeting all the new people there. One of my favorite things there was meeting all the new 6th graders in the club,” she said.
In the cooking club, you earn how to make different food from different cultures that is quick and easy, for example the first week they made Sushi, which is also healthy. There are about 7 kids each week. The club is held every other Friday at lunch in room 269B in Ms. Hannah’s room.
