"Not wanting to continue with a long-term sub, OSA recently hired Mr. Sisneros."

OSA’s biology and physics department has had a long-term sub for the past month, Mr. Wesley, due to the unexpected resignation of Mr. Clements the formerly new physics and biology teacher. Not wanting to continue with a long-term sub, OSA recently hired Mr. Sisneros.
Sisneros took on the difficult role of becoming the new physics and biology teacher at OSA at the start of the second quarter. I sat down with Sisneros to find out how OSA has treated him for the past couple of months. He says that he enjoys teaching at OSA and stated that“I was really taken by the arts here, I like being in the OSA environment.” He also likes the fact that the kids are so outgoing, and don’t lack in confidence.
Sisneros came to OSA with a teaching background at Napa Valley High located in Napa, and San Marin High School in Novato. Sisneros has also gone through student training at CK McClatchy placed in Sacramento.
Sisneros is currently facing many challenges, one of the biggest being establishing classroom culture. “Having trouble with establishing classroom culture may seem like a small thing,” Sisneros said, “but it really defines how the students look at you."
Sisneros was born in Livermore, CA and raised there for part of his childhood. When he was a teenager he moved to Auburn, CA located in the foothills. He was an only child that was raised by his mother and occasionally his father and other family friends. He currently lives in El Cerrito, and says that getting to work is very easy and it is nice to not have to worry about the commute.
Some activities Sisneros enjoys are kayaking, hiking, and his favorite is photography. Since photography is his favorite it probably makes sense that if he could be in any emphasis in OSA it would be Digital Media. Out of the many photographers he admires, Sebastiãn Salgado is his favorite.. On the rare occasion he is taking photos, he enjoys taking photos in an abnormal way that makes people have to look at them for a while. Sisneros is also a pet lover and has two young Basenjis (an Egyptian dog breed) and five snakes. He has a Masters degree from Harvey Mudd College, one of the many clusters of Claremont Colleges.
All in all, Sisneros is a dedicated teacher that knows a lot about what he teaches and has a lot to offer to OSA.
