The Middle School Dance is coming up fast, and we need to know more about it.
I interviewed Leon Jones Jr (the student body president) to get more information about this exciting dance.

The much-anticipated Middle School Dance has finally been announced for November 8th. The dance will be held in the Sweet’s Ballroom on Broadway Street, from 6:30pm- 8:30pm. The Middle School Dance’s theme is Fall Formal, and will be a fundraiser for OSA. Tickets went on sale Wednesday, October 23rd for the one-time price of $4. Afterwards, general admission is $6, and it will be $8 if you pay at the door.
The Middle School Dance was planned by Leon Jones Jr, the student body president and the rest of the student council. Planning the dance was not that hard,Jones and his team had a lot of hopes and ideas for the dance. “The idea of a perfect dance would be, everyone is having fun. No matter the reason why, if that’s the music, if that’s the food, if it’s just hanging out with your friends after school. It is just really everyone having fun and respecting each other.” Jones stated, in hopes that all of middle school can come together and just enjoy a fun night with each other.
He is also hoping for some financial profit because the student council is very low in funds. He wants to see the turn out in terms of experience but also the turn outs in money as well, for future events. Jones and his team has been working on planning out more fundraisers and events to lower the prices of events and still make money for OSA as well. If those events and fundraisers work out, he says that maybe at a point the student council and the school can start offering the dances for free. “It is really about earning and raising money to lower the costs of future events.”
“Many things go into planning the dance, decorations, finding the DJ, music, what kind of food your going to sell, the timing, setup, there are all those areas that the student council and I have to cover.” The members of the student council were each assigned a role, someone for each part of planning this upcoming event. That way, they were talking it over as a group, but everyone has their own thing they had to do and it’s not all on one person.
The newest DJ for the dance is a student named Geronimo Coffin, he is in 7th grade and has once been a DJ for burning man. The student council is extremely glad to have him on board as being the new DJ. The last school DJ also started off in 7th grade, so the school is excited to see how Geronimo Coffin will grow and change. The main food at this Fall Formal Middle School Dance will as far as we know, be pizza.
Show your support and give it up for our amazing school and the student council for planning this dance.
See you there!
