The holiday season is fast approaching! Christmas and Hanukkah, among others, all start at certain times, but that doesn’t mean people start getting in the spirit at the same time.
Around OSA you might have heard people singing holiday songs since before Thanksgiving, and maybe you were one of them. But other people still hasn’t started to get into their holiday spirit and won’t until later this month.
Maia Cavagnolo, a sixth grade student in the Literary Arts sub-pathway at OSA tends to get their Christmas tree about a week before break, and they start listening to holiday songs around the same time. Their opinion on being in the holiday spirit before Thanksgiving is “I definitely think it's a little bit weird but I can understand it.”
On the other hand, Eleni Leventis, a sixth grader in the Theater sub-pathway, says that she starts singing holiday songs before Thanksgiving. In fact, Leventis says “[I sing them] all year. Leventis starts baking Christmas cookies early December and gets her tree about two weeks into the month.
Ava Ford, another sixth grader in the Literary Arts sub-pathway, feels similar to Leventis. Ford says that she starts listening to holiday songs “probably around Halloween.” Ford gets her tree around the first week of December but already has been doing some festive things like making eggnog since November
Calliope Dean, an eighth grader also in the Literary Arts sub-pathway who celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas tends to start doing holiday things just after Thanksgiving. She starts listening to holiday songs at the same time and doesn’t mind people doing holiday things before thanksgiving.
Hopefully this article shows the way and time your fellow students get in the holiday spirit!
