“LOTS OF PEOPLE WANT TO DRESS UP THEIR PETS, BUT AS WHAT? SOME ARE PERFECT FOR HALLOWEEN, OTHERS CAN BE USED FOR EVERYDAY ACTIVITIES, BUT WHAT SHOULD YOU DRESS YOUR PET UP AS?” — LOGAN BERGMARK 6TH GRADE
Lots of people want to dress up their pets, but as what? Some are perfect for Halloween others can be used for everyday activities, but what should you dress your pet up as?
According to “The 25 best Halloween costumes for your furry friend in 2023” by KCRA, Cowboy Rider, Bee, and Vampire are in the top three.
At OSA, students and teachers alike have been putting deep thought and consideration into their dog’s costumes. Lit Arts 8th grader Poppy Zaiger chose to go DIY with their dogs’ costumes because, “I personally think store bought outfits aren’t designed with the dog's comfort in mind.” Poppy dressed her dog Winnie up as “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” And her dog Nugget as a lizard monster
Although sometimes it can be a really helpful thing to have it store bought, like with Lit Arts Department Chair, Jordan Karnes’ case. “I bought it from Amazon because I always wait till the last minute and I never have time to do it myself, and I’m not a very talented seamstress.” Karnes’ dog Mazzie dressed up as a bat this year. In past years, Mazzie went as a rocket ship and Superman—all bought from Amazon.
Mackenzie Luna, an 8th grader in Lit Arts, who dressed her two biggest dogs as a panda and an old lady, chose DIY also. “It’s DIY because we have some old clothes from a really long time ago, we are using for both costumes,” she said. So DIY recycling, or store bought new, both have pros and cons. Her dog Ellie was be a old lady and her dog Petan was a panda.
Combining them all and adding a few like, 6th grader in Lit Arts’ Cece Burger’s“chef and hotdog costume,” I’ve compiled a top 10 dog costume list.
Although, all are 1st place! You should decide what you find, and dress your pet up! DIY or store bought, dress your pet up! Unless your pet won’t like it.
