what do you have to lose? - Cecilia fontaine, 7th grader.

Everyone on planet earth has at least had a small crush on another person, even if they complain that it is nothing but a hairline fracture of a feeling. This article will tell you how to ask your crush on a date without being totally weird or shy.
Step 1: Get close to your crush!
Don’t be creepy with it but try to get them to notice you. Even if it's a soft smile or quick talk between you both, make yourself open and have them get used to your presence. And, even if they don’t seem to get the hint, don't go crazy—humans are slightly clueless but they will probably have a gut feeling that you’re giving off a vibe, even if that person doesn’t show they know.
Step 2: Questions!
Once you get to know the person and create at least a small bond, ask questions through text messages. It's way easier to talk to a person through a message because you can think about what you're trying to get out before saying it. Ask things like “are you single?” or “are you open to a relationship?” Yet don’t go saying these things all willy nilly, wait till you have a feeling or the right time. Also, don’t ask them super close together, create a conversation towards the questions to get more information about the situation but don't let your crush know your intentions.
Step 3: Don’t be scared of rejection.
Oh rejection, this is a side effect of the whole recipe of love. Everyone is scared of rejections… try not to be scared of it. If you find out that the person doesn’t like you, be proud of yourself in the long game, and gain the power to shoot your shot without fright!
Step 4: Just do it!
This is the final and most important step of all, and it is to just ask the person! It's not the end of the world, go up to them and ask them “If I asked you out what would you say?” That way the person doesn’t know if you like them or not. And, if you want to do it by text, then that's where the person will open up more towards you because no one will be around them. Yes it's maybe easier to ask the person out in front of their friends, but they are probably gonna tell their friends anyways.
In Conclusion!
Don’t be afraid and just tell the person you like them, it will all end up better in the long game, rejection or not. It's only an obstacle in life needing to be done, nothing special. You’re young and there still is time ahead of you—it's nothing close to the end of the world or the zombie apocalypse. It will all just fade away at the end of a breakup, so why not just give it a try. I’m not gonna do any of these because I'm scared 24/7 but I believe in you fully!
