"What is the Delta Variant and why is it different? The Delta variant, a new variation of Covid-19, Delta is the most contagious COVID-19 variant." --Aneesa Burdick, 6th grade

The Delta variant could be as contagious as chicken poxs which spreads more easily than the common cold. The first case of the Delta variant was in December 2020  in India, according to Healthline.

Yale Medicine reported that cough and loss of smell are less common with the Delta variant, while headache, sore throat, runny nose, and fever are among the top symptoms.
If you are feeling any symptoms of Covid-19 speak to an adult in the OSA building or guardians at home or wherever you live or stay.
Should we be at school right now? Across America many people may have declared the pandemic as basically over, lifting restrictions, reopening businesses and schools, and no
 more mask mandates.

Covid infections showed up again in record numbers especially with kids. Children under 12 are not able to be vaccinated, which may put them at risk of contracting Covid-19.
Kids are often not wearing masks or can't wear them. Also social distancing is harder and hand washing /sanitizing is a challenge.

Based on these facts, school could easily be a place to get Covid if every precaution isn’t taken at school and home.

If you have lunch make sure you social distance from others or you can eat outside if you can. Be sure to keep your mask on and to stay six feet apart.
