"Valentine's Day is when we show affection for those we care about. Many people display it through cards and gifts, and if it’s homemade, it can be even more special."--Holly young, 6th grade
When you make it yourself, the present seems more thoughtful. It seems like you spent a lot of time on that person, making them feel more special. If you don’t have time to make a lot of them, try practicing for a while and you will be able to make a lot in a short period of time.
- Heart Bookmarks- This is one of the more simple crafts I will show you. You will need a piece of paper and some scissors. Cut a heart out of the paper. Then fold it in half and start to cut out another heart, but keep the top attached. You should be able to slip the middle heart over the page. It’s as simple as that! If you want it to be extra strong and reinforced, try adding newspaper to the back of the middle heart. It works, and it looks cool.
- 2. Origami Hearts-
Just remember to make the folds crisp, or it won’t work as well and perhaps fall apart.
3. Twisted Hearts-
3. Twisted Hearts-
Don’t let the “weaving” get loose or it will be messy.
4. Pop-up Heart-

5. Stuffed Hearts- This is another easy one- if you know how to sew. You cut two hearts out of pieces of a fabric of your choice. I would recommend matching the pieces together while cutting so the hearts are more or less the same size and shape. If you are using a pattern fabric, make sure that it’s inside out. That means that the pattern sides are both facing inwards. Start stitching it up, but leave a little space. Use that space to flip the fabric right side up. Start stuffing it through that hole. Once you are done with stuffing it, sew the hole up, and you’re done! I would keep the hole bigger so when you’re trying to flip the fabric, the stitches don’t get ripped.
6. Origami Bouquet-
6. Make at least 3 of these, and tie them up with string. Make sure that the flap is really in the pocket so that when you blow it up, they don’t come undone.
I hope you can make these crafts for special people in your life. Happy Valentines Day!
