Prince Philip was 99 years old when he passed away due to old age in Windsor Castle on April 9th, 2021.
The last person to die in the Royal family was the Queen of England's sister, named Margaret who passed away in mid-2020.
Prince Philip and the Queen had been married for over 60 years, and according to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, they “inspired the lives of countless young people.” The palace also released a statement saying “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband.”
The tenor bell located at Westminster Abbey started to toll its bell every 60 seconds, 99 times for the 99 years Prince Philip was alive.
According to the Washington Post, “Queen Elizabeth II returned to royal duties just four days after the death of her husband, Prince Philip, with her first in-person event Tuesday.” She is reported to be in a much better state and was seen smiling in a recent interview.
Prince Phillip's funeral took place at St. George’s Chapel located within Windsor castle. The funeral will not be open to the public due to Coronavirus guidelines prohibiting no more than 50 people to attend a funeral at a time.
The Royal family has made it clear that in place of flowers they would prefer a donation to charity in Philips's name.
