“I’m doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared when it’s available to take the vaccine,” Biden said. “There’s nothing to worry about. I’m looking forward to the second shot.”-- June Price, 6th Grade
Thousands of Americans watched as President Joe Biden received the second dose of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine on December 21, 2020.
“I’m doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared when it’s available to take the vaccine,” Biden had said. “There’s nothing to worry about. I’m looking forward to the second shot.” Biden hopes to distribute 100 million vaccines in the first 100 days. An ambitious goal, but Biden is confident that the Coronavirus will get better, with time and patience-and many trials. “Things are going to get worse before they can get better.” Biden comments. “We didn't get into this mess overnight, it's going to take time to turn things around.”
The Pfizer vaccine is a shot that was developed in late 2020. It has been approved by the FDA and CDC. “We owe these folks an awful lot, the scientists and the people who put this together, the front line workers, the ones who did the clinical work. It’s just amazing,” Biden comments after receiving the vaccine.
The healthcare workers have been working tirelessly to administer one million vaccines every day- including giving vaccines to many other politicians. Mike Pence, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnell, and many others have received the vaccine. Donald Trump is not on this list, as he received antibodies when he was diagnosed with COVID-19 in October.
When Biden got the vaccine, he showed us that the coronavirus is a national issue, not a political one. The coronavirus Pandemic is a universal concern- even if you're the president of the United States.
