Once chasing down Brown, Wilson allegedly shot Michael 6 times before leaving his dead body in the street.
The Real Story-
It was August 9th, 2014, the night he died. Walking across the street with his friend Dorian Johnson, Michael Brown and his friend were stopped by Missouri cop Darren Wilson. After an alleged altercation between Brown and Wilson, Michael and Dorian fled the scene. Once chasing down Brown, Wilson allegedly shot Michael 6 times before leaving his dead body in the street.
Days later, there was rioting and rage in the streets. Before August 15th, the St. Louis County police wouldn’t release the police officers name, and a lot of people were reliving the Trayvon Martin death after hearing about Brown. So, for many, many days they rioted. Until the trial.
There were countless protests and riots in Ferguson, resulting in more cops being brought in and eventually the National Guard. Right now, in December, there are protests going on in Ferguson, New York City, Oakland, and a lot of other places in America, and across the world.
The NYC protests are mainly about Eric Garner, a 43 year old father of 6, who was killed by being choked by a cop in NYC. He repeatedly said ‘I can’t breathe’, to the cop, Daniel Pantaleo. So, after Brown and this event, one can see why there would be a lot of protests for change. Especially if these cops aren’t getting punished! No one is going to jail and the citizens have had enough.
Darren Wilson had a trial to see if he was possibly guilty of anything, and he got let off free! Adding insult to injury, he got paid to leave work, got over 135,000 from a KKK fundraiser, and married his wife, while everyone was demanding peace for the teen he shot. There seems to be no justice for black people today.
The Media gets Involved-
After the jury decides that Wilson is not guilty, Tumblr and Twitter blew up with rage. A lot of people exploded with oppression and anger, incorporating art with their feelings, or just expressing their opinions. Many people began using #BlackLivesMatter for their posts about the current black killings, until someone started a new tag called #AllLivesMatter, that sparked a lot of anger and negativity. Because this is the time for people to realize we need to stop cop on black crime.
How to Participate in a Safe Protest -
Cover yourself with strong, mobile, and easy-to-shed- clothing. Wear shoes that allow you to run. Consider bringing gloves. Sew or tape carbon fiber into your clothing to stop tasers. Consider wearing sheets of protective material under your clothes. Don’t wear lotions, creams, etc.
Protect your head with a helmet. Make a shield. Don’t bring weapons. Wear sports pads to protect your limbs.
If possible, wear a gas mask, if not use a builder’s respirator, or use improvised mouth protections as a last resort. Consider making a homemade tear gas rinse (Water and Campden tablets). Wear eye protection; goggles, not contacts.
Poem about Ferguson
How many? Must die must be unjustified, how many?
How can you? Sleep at night knowing you just murdered an innocent teen whose life they had barely just began to see, how can you?
How is it, that murder is no longer illegal when it pertains to ones skin, is it no longer a sin? How is it?
Tell me. How does it feel, when you see a black teen, with a black hoodie, in the black of the night and when you shoot them, you are seen as the victim. How does it feel to be free?
Don’t you know there is no justice in this country, for those who don’t fit under the governments pre-selected categories?
Do you know what it is like to be looked down upon, because the sun has graced your skin longer than others? Do you know what it is like to always be ready to bow down and place your hands up, hands up, hands up. Don’t shoot because my hands are up!
How can you say my brother deserved to die when his hands were up! How can you say that cop was innocent, when he killed- no slaughtered, one of my own!
See this ‘country’ being free & just must be a lie, because no one goes to jail, when a black person dies.
