Winter break is coming up. It is a great time of the year to see a movie with your family or friends--or me. From Star Wars to Cats, I’ve rounded up the most promising family-friendly movies coming out during winter break.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is a fantasy sci-fi movie coming to theaters December 20th. It is the end of the Star Wars nine-movie saga. Rey, Finn, and Poe’s journey concludes. The resistance and the first order battle for the last time. Star Wars fans have already seen Luke’s story end in 1983 Return of the Jedi and Anakin’s in 2003 Revenge of the Sith. However, the director of this film, J.J. Abrams, is not known for his movie ending skills. It will still be a popular movie and fans are looking forward to see how it will turn out.
Jumanji: The Next Level is the sequel to Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle, the 2017 movie. It comes out December 13th and already has 74% on Rotten Tomatoes. This time there are new players brought into the game as the same four characters played by the same actors. The game is made a lot harder with new settings and more obstacles than just the jungle.
Spies in Disguise comes out December 25th. It is an animated movie about Lance Sterling, the greatest spy in the world. When scientist Walter Beckett creates new technology to turn him into a pigeon, things get weird. This should be a good movie for pigeon lovers.
Cats is a movie based on the Andrew Lloyd Webster musical, Cats. It is released December 20th. The creators use computer-generated imagery to turn the actors into furry catlike creatures. The cast is full of famous stars, such as Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Cudson, and Idris Elba. Which may bring more people to theaters than just fans of the musical.
See you at the theaters! Or maybe not. There are many theaters in the Bay Area. I’ll be at Jack London since it’s cheaper than AMC in Emeryville--showtimes TBD, but anyways, see you there!
