"Cancer is one of the most common sicknesses that people can have and is responsible for more than 700,000 deaths in the United States in 2021 alone. However, recent advances are hoping to be able to catch cancer before it gets deadly."--aneesa burdick,6th grade

Galleri is the
most recent cancer blood test that looks for signals present in the blood that could indicate the presence of cancer such as lung, pancreas or stomach types.

Galleri can point to where in the body the cancer signal is coming from with high accuracy. This can help your healthcare provider with preventative treatment plans. The Galleri test does not detect all cancers, nor does it measure your genetic risk of developing cancer in the future. It detects more than 50 types of cancer through a single blood draw. Forty-five of those cancer types don't currently have another recommended screening.

The Galleri test is recommended for ages 50 or older with an elevated risk for cancer. It is intended to be used in addition to, and not replace, other cancer screening tests your healthcare provider recommends. Family history is only one of many risk factors associated with cancer development. These risk factors include eating habits, lifestyle, living or working environments, genetics, and many others.

Here is what kind of cancer it can detect: Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) for prostate cancer. Cancer antigen-125 (CA-125) for ovarian cancer. Calcitonin for medullary thyroid cancer. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) for liver cancer and testicular cancer.

Cancer is known as a leading killer in 2021 that’s why https://grail.com/ (a healthcare company in pursuit of innovation to solve medicine’s most important challenges) created it.
