In 2020 Through, March and December, about 700 asian hate crimes happened in the Bay Area.

“I think in day-to-day life, a lot of people even have unknown prejudices because of the normalization that asian Americans have anything to do with this serious virus.,” saidSaid Tugso Damdin, an Asian American living in the Bay Area.
“Trump’s incendiary comments, his insistence on using the term ‘Chinese virus’ and the subsequent hate speech spread on social media and the hate violence directed toward us,” says Russell Jeung, a co-founder of Stop AAPI Hate.
People in the Asian community have been getting more and more hate and blame for making the “Asian” or “Chinese virus.”
Many violent incidents have happened with elderly Asian people recently.It hurts to see videos of elderly Asian people getting assaulted for no reason due to people spreading lies and false facts.
“The main reason this is happening is because racist people tend to be hard to rehabilitate,” said Lola Christ a Literary arts student. “I mean asian Americans have always been discriminated against, but with a virus migrating from china it’s like a dog treat for people with pre-existing judgements toward Asian Americans.”
Former President Trump and many other people used the term “Asian virus” is blamed for more damage than you might think, with more and more people thinking it's fine to assault Asian Americans as if they’re serving “justice.”
At one of Trump's rally he stated that this pandemic is the “china virus” blaming the whole country on the pandemic. After he said this it circulated all over the internet, more people started thinking that maybe Trump was right. They started attacking Asian Americans that can't defend themselves.
Asian Americans have yet to get justice about this problem, no one has done anything to stop or lower these hate crimes.
