"According to the trailer released with Spider-Man: No Way Home, the sequel to Dr. Strange will in fact, have America Chavez in it. But who is she? Why has she suddenly entered the MCU, especially as a character that’s been around for a significantly small amount of time compared to other characters from the comics."

ORIGIN
America Chavez is one of the Multiverse's greatest champions, originating from a mysterious dimension called the "Utopian Parallel.” That realm was dominated by the Demiurge, one of the mystical architects of creation. Because Chavez grew up in the Demiurge's presence, she absorbed its ambient mystical power, and thus became one of the most powerful beings in the entire Multiverse. When Chavez was six years old, mysterious forces permeated the Parallel with dimensional rifts that threatened to fracture it, kill its inhabitants, and scatter its fragments throughout the Multiverse’s infinite realities. To stabilize the Parallel, Chavez’s two mothers sacrificed their lives to seal the rifts, dispersing their atoms through them in the process. Coming to Earth from the wreckage, Chavez uses her superhuman abilities to protect its people.
ABILITIES AND ALLIANCES
Ms. America (the superhero alias of America Chavez) is easily one of the most powerful beings in the entire Marvel Multiverse, with Loki, the literal Norse god of mischief and lies describing her as "a nearly indestructible woman who can throw tanks at the Moon."
Along with superhuman strength and durability, Chavez can make an enemy burst into tiny star fragments with a punch, and she can move at superhuman speeds.
She can make physical contact with non-corporeal points of existence, allowing her to apparently touch a gravitational singularity’s center and to create interdimensional portals by punching the air or stomping her foot, literally breaking the barriers that separate dimensions; her eyes, necklace, and wrist tattoos glow when she creates such portals. Looking at her powers in the comic books, she’s a character nearly as powerful as an Infinity Stone, specifically the space stone, as both centre more around portals.
America Chavez is well known by Marvel comic fans by her appearance in the Young Avengers, A-force, Ultimates, Teen Brigade and West Avengers comic books, as well as her own standalone series.
MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS
Directed by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will follow up the events of the Disney+ original Loki and box office hit Spider-Man: No Way Home as both have heavily messed with the fabric of space and time, so a girl with the ability to quite literally break the fabric of space-time may have something to do with the storyline.
The appearance of Chavez is most notable in the Multiverse of Madness trailer, as you see her standing with her back to the camera, the iconic white star on the back of her jean jacket. You can also catch a glimpse of how her power will be portrayed, still fairly true to the comics, with a giant glowing star opening up to a different universe/dimension. You see the first peak of her face a bit later in the trailer, when she stands behind Stephen Strange as they look out onto some sort of cosmic cathedral. Chavez will be played by Xochitl Gomez, who is best known for her acting in the Netflix show, The Babysitters Club.
Chavez’s arrival to the MCU is bigger than it seems because Chavez was a lesbian in the comic books, making her the first LGBTQ+ Latina superhero to get her own standalone comic series. It was actually cancelled in 2018, but the second attempt was launched around 2020 and did quite well.
