Sir Robert Bryson Hall II known as Logic or as he calls himself the Young Sinatra. A 25 year old rapper that just entered the game not too long ago currently signed to Def Jam Recordings. Some people say he’s another Kendrick or J-Cole, while some say he’s even better. In interviews Logic explains that the lifestyle he lived growing up in Gaithersburg, Maryland was not easy. Living in a childhood with abusive parents that used drugs. Having a father who bought crack from his own sons. Logic was the only member of a black family with White features. In his debut album “Under Pressure” he releases all of his emotions and explains his life in a non angry way.
From his first unofficial mixtape, "Psychological: The Mixtape," to his debut album "Under Pressure," there is not any negative vibe that you get from his music like other rappers, he talks about real life situations and his struggle. As a teen he was kicked out of school and sleeping in a friend's basement, Logic channeled his passion into music. Everybody that Logic works with such as his friends are all a part of a group called RattPack. RattPack is a crew that means Real-All-the-time. After three critically acclaimed mixtapes; he does on his first major-label work while being signed to Def Jam.
The "Intro" of the album brings us into his world in an intimate way through all of his music. He's saying that he is finally here, that after everything he made it. He would dream about and wonder what it felt like. Every song is another story and the album is his life. Logic satisfies the thirst for a connection with the artist through the composition of his album. An automated voice "Thalia" takes the listener through the album and into the mind of the artist; she guides you through the album and gives you short explanations. While listening, personally the songs that touched me and stood out was his single "Buried Alive" and "Gang Related”.
"Gang Related," is based on a true story and explaining his family’s lifestyle. Logic replays the reasons why he never he never fell into his family trap of killing, gangster type lifestyle that many of his family members fell into, through the alternating perspectives of himself and his drug-dealing older brother. But the song is in the point of view of his older view and how Logic imagined how it was to be in his position. His whole life and feeling about the topics addressed in the the album is wrapped in "Buried Alive," as he discusses the challenges of success over this dope beat produced by 6ix. There's a feeling of confused teenager in "Young, Broke, and Infamous" (title of one of his mixtapes) that is trying to make a dream come true and turns into a young adult dizzy with the pressures and experiencing perks of signing to a major label deal. I recommend this album, there is not one song that I dislike, when I first heard this album I played it a whole week straight. In my opinion Logic is one of the best rapper in the game but the most underrated, he needs his props. LOGIC IS ON TOP!
