"Jamie Spears recently stepped down from CONSERVATOR SHIP as recent information from Britney and her team popped up."--Jayden Baasansuren, 8th grade
Jamie Spears recently stepped down from conservator ship as recent information from Britney and her team popped up.
Britney Spears has recently opened up about her father abusing his conservator ship role.
“B.Spears, who is 39, has spent the past 13 years living under a conservator ship, a legal structure in which a person’s personal, economic, and legal decision-making power is ceded to others,” according to recent Newyorker article. As J. Spears resigned from conservatorship, B. Spears wants to press charges on her father for exploiting her life and for conservatorship abuse. B. Spears requested a court hearing in 2020 to remove her father as conservator but was denied. On June 23 of B. Spear’s 2021 hearing she told the judge that she wanted “to end the ‘abusive’ conservatorship so she could get married and have more children,” according to the BBC.
As B. Spears stated, “This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good," she said, speaking remotely. "I deserve to have a life."
According to the BBC, her father was placed as a conservator because in 2008 B. Spears was in a bad mental state and was forced to get a conservator. She then went a hospital to be monitored closely when she was in the hospital J.Spears then petitioned to have authority to her financial and career decisions.
After she came back, she couldn't remove her father as conservator as the judge denied the appeal. Why was J. Spears appointed as her conservator? A conservator is placed so the person that's getting one is under a bad mental health. Then a family member or a trusted friend would be placed as a conservator.
Conservators have power over such a person including holding approval over marriage or children, their financial, and their real estate.
The issue currently at stake is B. Spears trying to press charges against her father for abusing his role as conservator .
This shows just one of many people that are placed in these harsh conservator ships, including former child actor,Amanda Bynes who was placed under a conservator ship by her mother because Bynes was in a really bad mental state and was fighting a drug addiction. Byne’s mother placed her under a conservator ship. She then improved and wanted to remove her mother as her conservator, so she could get married without her mother’s permission.
All of this demonstrates that conservators are supposed to be “good” but end up hurting others—the B.Spears issue is still on and going. These issues are really common in America. Some people are using a conservator ship for their benefits and should really be changed and known.
