"Music has and, I believe, will always have an effect on people. Today I'm going to talk about and review the top ten songs in the USA." --Cb omand, 6th grade

Music has and, I believe, will always have an effect on people. I don't know about you, but I am constantly listening to something. Today I'm going to talk about and review the top ten songs in the USA, according to Billboard's top 100. What goes into the songs we listen to so much? I guess we will find out.
1. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” From Encanto by Lin Manuel Miranda
8/10
It's no surprise that this catchy song is number one. Personally, I hear so many kids singing this tune in the hallways, at lunch, and even P.E. This song has been at the top of the Billboard charts for weeks, Theatlantic even states, “Though Disney has generated lots of legendary music over the years, ‘Bruno’ is the first No. 1 from one of its animated films since Aladdin’s ‘A Whole New World’ in 1993. The new song is charting higher than Frozen’s ‘Let It Go’ did in 2014.” I do like this song, it is very catchy and the lyrics are so amazing, but, I would say that it's getting old. I have heard it so much to the point where I'm bored of it.

2. “Do We Have A Problem?” by Nicki Minaj X Lil Baby
9/10
Even though this song is not at all like the genre I usually listen to, it's still a really good song. The beat is amazing, but to warn you, it is a very explicit song. “Although we haven't received an album from Minaj since she shared Queen back in 2018,” says Hot New Hip Hop, “the Rap icon has been working on a new record. Minaj has said she's bringing back those mixtape-type bars that fans fell in love with earlier on in her career, so it will be interesting to see what she has been working on.” Judging by this being Minaj’s first release since 2018, I’d say whatever she puts out next, people are going to love.

3. “Easy On Me” by Adele
5/10
I know some people are going to be upset with my rating, and I understand. I don't think that it is a bad song but it is definitely extremely overplayed. Spokesman states, “Within hours, the ballad reached No. 1 on the global Spotify chart with 10.7 million streams. Now if charts don’t convince you of her influence, her music video numbers might: In just six days, the ‘Easy on Me'’ video surpassed 90 million views on YouTube.” I think it's safe to say that this song was and is a big hit.

4. “Heat Waves” by The Glass Animals
6/10
This song has a decently good beat, the lyrics and really the entire song reminds me of summer. “In addition to notching a billion streams, ‘Heat Waves’ also topped Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart, as well as Billboard‘s Pop Airplay chart. On that chart, “Heat Waves” is the first #1 in eight years to be written, produced and performed by a single artist,” reports wrmf.com. This is a big beginning for The Glass Animals.

5. “Stay” by Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI
6/10
“Since the release, the song spent 79 non-consecutive days at number 1. Becoming the 9th longest-running song of all the time. Also the song reached peaks of +10 million daily streams. The second song of the year to achieve this and one the few non-Christmas songs,” says Justin Bieber fandom. If it can top some Christmas songs I would say it's deserving of a spot in the top 10.

6. “Super Gremlin” by Kodak Black
5/10
This is one of Black’s first songs after being sentenced to three years in prison. In the song he talks about having to handle his career and his kids. “Super Gremlin” grew fast in popularity and our generation's music agrees, “‘Super Gremlin’ soared into the 10th spot on the Billboard Hot 100 last week (Jan. 11). Now rising to No. 6 on the coveted songs chart, this is Black’s third appearance on Billboard following ‘Tunnel Vision’ (No. 6) and ‘ZeZe’ (No. 2),” they say.

7. “Abcdefu” by GAYLE
9/10
This song got pretty popular pretty fast, I suspect this is due to hyping up on social media platforms like TikTok. “The song drew 56.1 million streams (down 4%) and sold 12,700 (down 21%) worldwide in the Jan. 21-27 tracking week,” says Billboard.com. I think the beat and the lyrics are pretty good. I do feel like it has lost its sparkle to many people due to so much radio time and so much social media fame.

8. “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran
9/10
Ed Sheeran, one of the most famous gingers out there, has done it again—he created yet another song that is so good that it's bad or so bad it's good, I can't tell. Either way. I think he did a great job on this song, it was also an interesting experience watching the music video. Wrmf.com states, “The song has topped Billboard‘s Adult Pop Airplay chart, becoming his seventh one to do so. That makes him the solo male artist with the most number ones on this chart, which has been around for 25 years. The record was previously held by Shawn Mendes, who had six.” Good job beating Shawn Mendes, and overall a good song, I like it.

9. “Ghost” by Justin Bieber
7/10
I generally don't like Justin Bieber’s songs, or him as a person, but this song seemed to have a deeper, more melancholy meaning that really stuck with me. As well as the beat and the vocals being very good. “Bieber is one of only four musicians to reach double-digits on the chart, joining the likes of Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Maroon 5. Last September, Bieber’s collaboration with The Kid LAROI, ‘Peaches,’ also made headlines, when the song spent 13 weeks at the top of the Pop Airplay Chart (marking the second-longest run in the chart’s history)” says udiscovermusic. I do like this song, but as much as I can like a Justin Bieber song.

10. “Surface Pressure” From Encanto by Lin Manuel Miranda
5/10
Yet another Encanto song. This song grew in popularity, not only because of its catchy tune, but also many older siblings found what the character Luisa was saying in this song, was very relatable. Billboard.com states that, “‘Surface Pressure,’ in which Darrow sings about the weight many families put on elder siblings, is just one of the many songs currently thriving from Encanto. The soundtrack is spending a third nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on charts dated Feb. 5.” I think Encanto was a total hit, all of the music fit the story line perfectly, and while this song was not my favorite it was still a great tune to sing along to.
So there you have it folks, the top ten songs in the U.S. I do believe that “We Don't Talk About Bruno” won't be leaving the top ten for a little bit longer. I think a few songs might float up or down, but I guess we will see.
