"There’s always been an argument on whether Jojo's Bizarre Adventure makes the top three or even five in terms of good or og shows but not too many people want to rank the parts." -- Micah Head, 9th Grade
There’s always been an argument on whether Jojo's Bizarre Adventure makes the top three or even five in terms of good or og shows but not too many people want to rank the parts. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (JJBA) is a 190 episode series made by Hirohiko Araki, with 9 total parts but only 6 animated parts. Each part follows a protagonist with the nickname “Jojo”. JJBA is known for its crazy art style, weird characters, and stands, which are a physical manifestation of one’s “life energy”. This article will be ranking all six animated parts of JJBA in descending order.
5. Phantom Blood
Phantom Blood is placed at #5 because even though it’s the introductory part of JJBA it is lacking what makes Jojo what it is today: stands, great friend groups, and terrorizing villains every episode. Phantom Blood also has filler for plot which is boring and hard to get into.
4. Diamond is Unbreakable
The fourth part of Jojo’s being placed at number five, woah. You have a pair of recurring characters from part 2 and 3, Joseph and Jotaro, which is amazing and you’d expect a way more violent, action packed part but it's not. Part 4, while still keeping you on your toes and having great fight scenes, it’s a slice of life and compared to previous parts is boring. It just feels like filler, added drama, and a reason to keep Joseph relevant.
3. Battle Tendency
Battle Tendency should honestly be higher on this list but again it was hard to stay into. They introduced the three – technically four pillar men if you count Santana – Kars, Wamu, and Esidisi. Three very powerful, ancient, super beings who are after the red stone of aja who were cruel yet you can’t help but root for them. The reason why Battle Tendency is not in first or second place is because even while being amazing the story drags out a little too long in between fights and you are still longing for the introduction of stands.
2. Stone Ocean
Stone Ocean starts off with Jolyne Kujo, Jotaro’s estranged daughter, getting framed by her selfish boyfriend then goes to prison. In prison Joylne becomes friends with Ermes Costello, F.F (Foo Fighters), Narciso Anasui, and Weather Forecast (Wes Bluemarine). We follow the five of them to stop the ultimate demise of the world while being imprisoned. Already you have part of the story that has you on the edge of your seat, but this part is one of the most memorable, fun, and sad mainly because the entire world resets in a gut wrenching way, and that’s what makes it so good.
1.Stardust Crusaders
Stardust Crusaders is the part where we are finally introduced to stands and reintroduced to Dio Brando and Joseph Joestar. You are introduced to a great band of characters. Jotaro Kujo, Jean Pierre Polnareff, Noriaki Kakyoin, Muhammad Avdol, and Joseph Joestar. They are set on a mission to Egypt (from Japan) to save Jotaro’s mom, Holly, from her stand that is making her sick. While being one of the longer parts, this part keeps you entertained with new enemy stand users every two episodes. You get emotionally attached to the characters and kind of feel like you’re going on this adventure with them.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is overall a unique and captivating series that has definitely earned its ranking in the top 15 in “OG” or “good” anime.
