Assuming that you’re home with little to do, it seems that now is the perfect time to give my top movie recommendations. From artsy and beautifully shot, to campy, NO BRAINED films made purely for your enjoyment—I present my top thirteen films. Enjoy.
BROTHER BEAR
This underrated Disney film, follows a boy who is the youngest of three brothers, named Kenai (Joaquin Phoenix), when his eldest brother is killed by a bear, he becomes upset, and kills the creature. The spirits of his tribe decide that he must see life through another's eyes, and is turned into a bear himself. When awoken from a short slumber, he is told that he must find where his ancestors touch the earth, and is sent off alone on a journey, until he meets a small, obnoxious bear named Koda (Jeremy Suaraz). And they set off on a journey together, learning unwanted secrets along the way.

MOULIN ROUGE
Moulin Rouge is a forbidden love story, taking place in the glamorous, Parisian night club, at the cusp of the 20th century. It follows a young poet named Christian (Ewan McGregor), who becomes caught in an affair with the club’s most notorious, and gorgeous star, Satine (Nicole Kidman). Directed by Baz Luhrmann, Moulin rouge.
UNCUT GEMS
This intense disaster film will have you lingering on your seat. The New Yorker jeweler, Howard, (Adam Sandler) always seems to be in debt, and while watching this film, you will almost never be at ease. If that isn’t what you're looking for, I would say to move along now. Howard has just been given a rare gem, and his new customer, (The Weekend) has said that he is mesmerized by its beauty, but when Howard says he's not interested in selling it, The Weekend asks to borrow it. Chaos is to new levels.
PARASITE
This Korean film, with one too many genres to name, follows the unemployed Ki-taeks family, slowly creeping their way into the jobs of a stubborn, rich, and slightly clueless family. Starting with the youngest child, they find the ways to fire the next slot, until they are all in, but the last fired woman has secrets hidden within the home, too large to ignore.
RAISING ARIZONA
A highbrow in the disguise of a lowbrow, Raising Arizona is a hilarious, vintage film that follows the newly wed couple, H.I. (Nicholas Cage) and Edwina (Holly Hunter). Quickly, they are diagnosed with fertility issues. And the richest man in town had a few extras…
MOONSTRUCK
Widowed wife, Loretta Castorini (Cher), is proposed to by her boyfriend Johnny (Danny Eilo). After agreeing, he is told that he must go to visit his dying mother in Sicily.While he’s abroad, Johnny asks Loretta to find, and invite, his brother Ronny (Nicholas Cage) to their wedding. But a simple invite turns into a lot more.
HEATHERS
This dark-comedy classic follows the story of Veronica Sawyer’s (Winona Ryder), junior year of highschool. Veronica is part of the most popular clique of the school, but when she meets the handsome, and adventurous boy, Jason Dean (Christian Slater), his beliefs cause a struggle in the no-longer normal highschool.
DEATH BECOMES HER
Twisted and gut-punching. Death Becomes Her tells the long lived story of Helen Sharp, (Goldie Hawn), and Madeline Ashton. friends, enemies, rivals. Helen seeks revenge against Madeline, after the many men she has stolen from her. One in particular… Ernest Medville. And in search of a more clean, young look, they meet a mysterious woman... who has a drink for them.
THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT
A roadtrip movie that follows two drag queens and a transgender woman on a journey across the Australian outback. Performing shows and meeting people along the way. Taking on the road, riding in their big pink bus. We watch these three three on their way, free as can be.
10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU
Bianca Stratford is (Larisa Oleynik), a popular girl at her high school with more than one guy attempting to take her out on a date. But there’s one problem. She isn’t allowed to date, unless her ill-tempered older sister Kat (Julia Stiles) does. All hope is lost, until Kat meets the school's supposedly juvenile delinquent, Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger). Money turns itself out into reality in this teen comedy-drama.
ALMOST FAMOUS
William Miller (Patrick Fugit), a 15-year-old boy who has a deep love of music, aspires to become a rock journalist. He is given an assignment by Rolling Stone magazine to document the ride of the up-and-coming band;, “Stillwater” on their “Almost Famous” tour. Along the way, he befriends one of the “Bandaids”, Penny Lane.

This artsy french film follows the love story of the painter, and Heloise (Adele Haenel), a soon to be bride. Their love story developed through the process of painting her picture.
TOMBOY
Lastly we have, Another French film, Tomboy follows the summer of 9-year-old Laure (Zoe Heran), when meeting her friends, who assume she is a boy immediately, she plays along, and goes as “Mikael.” Tomboy captures the essence of a child perfectly. And tells the story playfully, yet still serious and sweet.
