Even though your favorite TV show is on break for the winter vacation, and all you want to do is just sit in the corner and cry, that doesn’t mean you should! —Allison Merrell
Even though your favorite TV show is on break for the winter vacation, and all you want to do is just sit in the corner and cry, that doesn’t mean you should! Get out and do something fun in real life that rivals the fictional drama that you have devoted your life to for the past nine months. Here are some fantabulous suggestions to spice up your winter break.
1. Go to Disneyland!
Disneyland!!!!
Disneyland, being the happiest place on earth, will make you the happiest person on earth! And even better: it just got happier! Cars Land was added to California Adventure a couple years ago, and it is literally a dream. In addition, Disneyland is always gorgeously decorated at Christmas time – even the Haunted Mansion gets in the spirit, with decorations to fit the movie “Nightmare Before Christmas”! The only problem is you have to walk around… It’s worth it though!
2. Get into a web series!
YouTube isn’t just a place for makeup gurus and ridiculous viral videos to shine anymore; people are actually making high quality content and are uploading it to YouTube for free! One of the web series that I recommend is called “Husbands”. Husbands tells the story of two young gay men, athlete Brady Kelly and tabloid darling Cheeks. Brady and Cheeks woke up legally wed after a drunken Vegas weekend, right after gay marriage had been legalized. However, instead of quickly getting divorced, they decide to prove to the world that this was the right decision. The series documents the couple’s hardships and trials, and is absolutely hilarious and heartwarming. Another web series that is WONDERFUL is
called “My Music”. It’s a mockumentary-sitcom that tells of a company called “My Music” where the employees go by the name of their favorite genre of music. It was created by the Fine Brothers who also created of theKids (and assorted others) React shows. See if you can spot some famous YouTubers and maybe a member of the Glee on the cast!
3. Watch all the Very Potter Musicals!
A Very Potter Musical, A Very Potter Sequel, and A Very Potter Senior Year is the trilogy of Harry Potter parody musicals created by Team Starkid, an absolutely fantabulous theater troupe. These are hilarious, and they also have five other musicals. All of these are onYouTube, and I recommend them as well, but if you were to chose one, the Very Potter Musicals are a must-see. Try to spot a college-aged Glee star in this one as well!
4. Re-watch all of the old kids shows you used to watch, and participate!
You’ll feel young again, I promise. Winter break is a kind of brain-break period anyway, so take a rest on the mentally stimulating TV shows! Maybe even watch some Disney Channel! I hear Girl Meets World is on point!
5. Watch all the Disney Princess movies!
Princesses are literally the best things ever invented. Honestly, Disney princesses are totally awesome. The only downside to this is that Netflix is a butt and doesn’t have that many Disney movies. If you have a craving for even more though, places like Half-Price Books are always stocked.
Or you could always go outside and do this “being active” thing that parents speak of. Your choice.
