"Parker Brewer's sanctuary is to find friends that are not fake people, and like her for the way that she is."--ANIYAH GARZA, 8th Grade
Parker Brewer is a 6th grade student in the Literary Arts Sub-pathway. Her sanctuary is to find friends that are not fake people, and like her for the way that she is. Her sanctuary is about loved ones and her best friends and how much it makes her feel safe and calm.

Brewer’s experience on making friends used to be hard. “It genuinely hurt to know I was more different from others,” she said. Some of them didn’t always agree with most of the stuff Parker liked. And it made her feel left out sometimes and uncomfortable around the wrong people. “It made me feel left out because my appearance looked different,” Brewer explained.

When she came to Oakland School for the Arts, she met so many people that appreciated her company and didn’t judge her for who she is. “I feel so safe and comfortable with them,” she said. “They are just like me and I love that  for me.” She has made so much success with everyone and has even made friends with the teachers she has with this school year.
