"For 8th grade Lit Arts student, Logan Bergmark, sanctuary is where she feels safe and can be herself and not worry about hurting other people’s feelings”--Sofia Gonzalez, 6th grade
For 8th grade Lit Arts student, Logan Bergmark, “My sanctuary is where I feel safe and can be myself and not worry about hurting other people’s feelings”. She feels that when around friends and family because she feels like she is safe and she can be herself.                           Logan’s sanctuary makes her feel this way because the people in her sanctuary understand her and accept her completely. When she is with her friends and family, she doesn’t feel judged or pressured to act differently. They support her, listen to her, and make her feel valued. This gives her the confidence to be honest and open, knowing that the people around her will still care for her no matter what.                                                                                                                                  Community is important to Logan because it is a space where everyone feels free to say what they want and express themselves. When people in a community support each other, it becomes easier to be open and real. A strong community gives people confidence, connection, and the feeling that they belong. Knowing there are people who understand you and care about you makes life easier and makes challenges feel less overwhelming.                                                              Logan said that her sanctuary is where she feels safe enough to be herself. In other words, true sanctuary comes from the people who make you feel understood and protected. Her words show that sanctuary isn’t just a physical place—it’s the feeling of being accepted for who you are. This connects to the idea of community and how important it is to have people who support you. In the end, Logan’s experience shows that everyone needs a space where they can be their full self, and the people we surround ourselves with are what make that sanctuary possible.
