Logan Bergmark, is an 8th grader in OSA, specifically in the pathway Literary Arts. For Bergmark, the word sanctuary means joy and safety. She k describes sanctuary as a place that also includes her chickens: Stella, Beej, Mouse, Rock E, Fred, and Cardi Bird. When she thinks of the word sanctuary, she feels safe and hears the sounds of her chickens.
Logan’s chickens are a big part of her sanctuary. Her memories of raising them since they were hatchlings are very important to her. She has sadly lost two chickens in the process, which were named Monster and Blonde, and this has made her realize that her chicken’s lives are precious to her. This shows how much Bergmark cares for her chickens, since they are the main part of the sanctuary.
For Bergmark, sanctuary means keeping her safe and away from a lot of the stress she has been dealing with. This stress could be coming from the fact that some of her chickens have a very high risk of dying, Despite this she still cares for her chickens and is very happy near them and that's a big part of her sanctuary.
