A pregnant woman from Los Angeles named cary lopez alvarado was detained on June 8th.. --parker brewer--6th grade

A pregnant woman from Los Angeles named Cary Lopez Alvarado was detained on June 8th when she told the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that they needed a warrant upon their arrival at a private property in Hawthorne.

Lopez Alvarado’s boyfriend and her cousin worked at the house, where Alvarado was waiting for them at the property’s gate. According to the legal
claim, her boyfriend told her over the phone that immigration authorities were following his truck.  Once her boyfriend and cousin arrived, the claim says that federal agents pulled in behind their truck and tried to open it as Alvarado told them they needed a warrant.

Then, according to the claim, she was violently restrained and held in custody for several hours. The Sacramento Bee reports that, “The agents manhandled Ms. Alvarado by grabbing and pulling Ms. Alvarado’s arms, twisting her arm on the truck, and pushing her body, including her pregnant belly, onto the truck.”

“Border Patrol or ICE agents then shackled Ms. Alvarado with a chain under her pregnant belly, hands, and legs,” the claim states via NBC news.

NBC News also stated that Alvarado also said that she lost her balance as agents shoved her during her arrest. Over the weekend, she tearfully told NBC Los Angeles on Monday from a hospital bed, “That’s when I kinda leaned forward, trying to protect my stomach.” And according to NBC, López Alvarado also told Telemundo 52, “I crouched down and held my belly, because I was scared they would hurt me. Three agents were grabbing me and trying to handcuff me.”
NBC News also said that Alvarado claimed that she started experiencing sharp pains in her stomach after she was arrested and released Sunday, and went to the hospital. With only a week before her due date, her doctors said, they kept Alvarado hospitalized for 1 day to monitor her and her baby.

And NBC News also said that “The arrests took place the same weekend immigration authorities conducted a series of raids in Southern  California, arresting dozens of people and triggering five straight days of protests in Los Angeles.”

In another situation on January 7, a woman in Minneapolis was brutally shot through her window. The Minnesota Reformer described the video as showing masked ICE officers approach a Honda Pilot stopped in the middle of Portland Avenue near 34th Street. One officer tells the driver to “get out of the f***ing car” and tries to open the door. The driver then slowly backs up and then pulls forward, appearing to try to leave. An officer at the front of the vehicle fires three shots, and the SUV travels a short distance before crashing into a parked car,” said the Minnesota Reformer.

“The woman was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead,” the Minneapolis chief of police said to the Minnesota Reformer.

A group of Minneapolis City Council members identified her in a statement as Renee Nicole Good, a Minneapolis resident. They said she was a “member of our community” and demanded justice for her killing.

The woman who took the video, Caitlen Callenson, claimed that she was on a walk when she saw an ICE truck get stuck in the snow. And as more ICE vehicles came, bystanders blew their whistles in protest of the people who ICE have killed or injured, and according to Callenson, the driver of the SUV tried to block the ICE vehicles. Callenson also claimed that she did not see ICE agents trying to detain or arrest anyone leading up to or after the shooting.

U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, who represents Minneapolis, accused ICE officers of “terrorizing neighborhoods.”
In another interview, Omar said, “I am beyond outraged that their reckless, callous actions led to the killing of a legal observer in Minneapolis.” In another statement, she also said, “This administration has shown, yet again, that it does not care about the safety of Minnesotans.”

The Minnesota Reformer also stated that MAGA supporters showed video from different angles that purported to show the officer acting in self-defense, while former senior Obama administration official Tommy Vietor reshared the video on X and called the incident “an execution by this ICE officer.” Americans can expect years of protest and debates to come if ICE agents don’t own up to what they are doing.

On December 31st, 2025, a 43-year-old black man named Keith Porter was shot and killed by an off-duty ICE officer outside his apartment complex in Northridge, Los Angeles.

Word in Black also stated that the Los Angeles Police Department has released little information about the killing of Porter, and the ICE agent who shot him has not been identified. Jsané Tyler, a cousin of Porter, said in an interview that Porter had been firing a new gun in the air to celebrate New Year’s.

“In a statement, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Security Tricia McLaughlin said the officer was in his apartment when he heard Porter firing. ‘The officer took his ICE-authorized firearm and left his apartment to investigate.” McLaughlin said in a statement. When the officer encountered the armed suspect and identified himself as law enforcement, McLaughlin said Porter pointed and shot the weapon at the agent, and refused to drop it. ‘He was forced to defensively use his weapon and exchanged gunfire with the shooter.’” McLaughlin told Word in Black.

“This is another Black father, son, cousin, villager, snatched without any regard to his life,” Tyler, Porter's cousin told Word in Black. “And once again, this is law enforcement not being held accountable for the loss of life.”

Word In Black also stated that “Nearly 100 people gathered on Sunday at a vigil for Porter organized by Black Lives Matter Los Angeles outside of the apartment complex where the shooting took place.”

“If we can imagine someone else stepping out of their apartment and being shot by someone who was not an ICE agent, what would happen to that person? We would expect that there would be no arrest,” Melina Abdullah, one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, said in an interview with Word in Black. “The whole handling of everything tells us that it's a green light to cops as criminals. It enables people to engage in vigilantism.”

Word In Black also said that” The investigation into Porter's death is being handled by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, Homicide Special Section. The Los Angeles County District  Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division will review all evidence and determine whether the agent acted lawfully.”

People came to America to seek better lives.
Now ICE is taking them away.
