"Yes, The SeconD Wicked Movie has been canceled, due to the horrible Drama with Starbucks." -- Lucy Dennis, 6th Grade
The following article is a special May investigation by the OSA Shallot staff, aiming to bring you the very best of the campus' fake news.

We have all heard about the popular new movie/musical Wicked. With 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and its 10 Oscar nominations, this movie captured the heart of many fans, and did an outstanding job capturing the amazing story of the unlikely friendship between Elphaba ( Cynthia Erivo), a self conscious girl whose skin is green, and Glinda ( Ariana Grande), a popular girl who favors the color pink. This movie is based off of the musical Wicked, originally starring Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Kristen Chenoweth as Glinda, which is inspired from the movie The Wizard of Oz. But how and why did the second part of Wicked get canceled?

What About The First Movie?
The plot is very complicated and long. It starts off with Elphaba and Glinda meeting at a special wizard school called Shiz. Elphaba has magical powers, so she gets special lessons with the school's head of witchcraft, Madame Morrible. Madame Morrible hints that Elphaba may be able to meet the Wizard of Oz and possibly work with him, which leads to the song “The Wizard and I.” And because of Elphaba suddenly getting attention, Glinda becomes jealous because her dream is also to become a witch. The two girls are roommates so the tension between them explodes into the song “What is This Feeling.” Meanwhile there is a new student at Shiz named Fiyero. Glinda falls in love with him and they invite everybody to the OzDust Ballroom, where they sing the song “Dancing through Life.” The story continues with Elphaba going to the Emerald city with Glinda, to meet the Wizard of Oz, in which they sing the song “One Short Day.” They then meet the Wizard and realize he is actually a villain. Elphaba escapes on a flying broomstick with the final song of the first part: “Defying Gravity.”

Why Did They Cancel the Second Movie?
It all started when the Wicked director Jon. M. Chu started running out of money to produce Wicked Part Two. He called everyone into his office to discuss ideas for merchandise, to pay for the rest of the film. Erivo said that the cast should collaborate with fast food chain KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and create Elphaba and Glinda’s Wicked Hot Chicken Broomsticks. That was quickly discontinued without a second thought.

Grande had a better idea to collaborate with Starbucks. And soon came “Glinda's Pink Potion: A Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher with coconut milk, freeze-dried dragon fruit, strawberry cold foam, and candy sprinkles”, and the “Elphaba's Cold Brew: Cold brew coffee with peppermint-flavored syrup, matcha cold foam and candy sprinkles.” This made millions of dollars. They now had enough money to make the second Wicked movie. Or so they thought.

After the first movie, when they were filming the second one, Erivo had to fly on her broomstick for the scene that they were filming. Instead of using CGI, the Wicked team used an invisible glass robotic flying broomstick drone. Erivo would get on the invisible glass robotic flying drone, and would hold her broomstick prop in the other hand. This worked out fine in the first movie, but in an interview about why they canceled the second movie she said, “One of the reasons we canceled it was I was drinkin’ my Starbucks espresso when there was an earthquake and I dropped it on the invisible glass robotic flying broomstick drone.” Now, I’m sure you already know, but these invisible robotic glass flying drones don’t come cheap. And this invisible glass robotic flying drone was BEYOND broken.

Chu hired an engineer named Sir Compel Etly B. Roken, and he said, (in a noticeably thick Australian accent,) “Something in the espresso that Erivo dropped made them plugs in the invisible glass flying drone practically burst! I mean Cynthia Ervio mate, she better talk to Starbucks and ask em’ what the heck was in them espresso!” Chu was devastated about the future of his precious second Wicked movie. And the money, oh the money! It turns out that invisible glass robot flying drones were REALLY expensive. A grand total of  $784,635,982,167,510. Yep, that’s a lot of money. This slowed down the filming process a lot. At first Chu thought he would sue Erivo for the broken drone, but he changed his mind last minute, and sued Starbucks for creating the toxic espresso in the first place. But the drama goes on.

Starbucks had collaborated with I part one to make merchandise and of course, the aforementioned drinks. Now these drinks were POPULAR. They were almost funding the entire Wicked franchise. But the real reason Wicked Part Two never came to theaters was because Wicked had collaborated with Starbucks and then suddenly sued them. Starbucks quit collaborating with Wicked, because why work with someone who just sued you?

This went horrible for the Wicked production crew. Now fans of “Glinda’s Pink Potion” and “Elphaba’s Cold Brew” were insanely mad at Wicked for discontinuing the two beloved drinks. Fans were even posting on TikTok about how mad they were. One fan, named Cra Z. Ymad said that, “I would rather taste one drop of Glinda’s Pink Potion again, than see the second Wicked movie.” Another fan, @crazy4ElPhabAzcoldBReW started a protest to bring back the “Elphaba’s Cold Brew.” They gathered 100,000,000 fans and protested in their local Starbucks, all yelling the same thing, “WE WANT COLD BREW!” It lasted for 10 minutes until the police finally gave up and gave them free Amazon gift cards.

But with Starbucks quitting their collaboration with Wicked, this meant that the beloved Wicked company could not fund the second movie. Grande shared deep disappointment. “ I was so happy and excited for fans to love this movie. But now it’s gone. All thanks to Starbucks.” Many cast members shared this disappointment. This news recently came out to the public, so who knows what fans will think now.

honestly I always thought green and pink were a good unique color combo that reminded me of unpleasant, but now because of this movie saying pink goes good with green has something to do with wicked. and it kinda sucks

For reference, that drone cost over 2.5 times the U.S. national dept and 100,000,000 fans is nearly 12.5 times the world population.

Once again a fantastically written piece! I actually thought that the KFC Wicked hot chicken drumsticks might have been a better idea than Starbucks. Also, , Sir Compel Etly B.Roken sounds like quite the character and if they ever come up with enough money to fund Wicked 2 , I think he should get a walk-on role- as perhaps a long lost cousin of the Wizard??? I don’t know.
Seriously, I love reading your work!
