A new jet based off of the conceptual design of the x-44 manta is here -leo pyskacek, Sixth Grade
America's military services on May 12, 2024 tested the x-44 MANTA, a 6th generation fighter that is causing fear all across the globe. The fighter is based on the F22 Raptor except without a tail to increase stealth capabilities.
The project originally was a conceptual design from the U.S. Air Force and NASA. It was intended to test the possibilities of full 3D thrust vectoring. This is a way of changing the angle of the jet engine's thrust to make the fighter aircraft turn in a specific direction without tailplanes or yaw pitch fins. MANTA (Multi-Axis No Tail Aircraft) technologies would allow for a stealthier fighter without the extra drag from tail fins. This jet will pave the way for thrust vectorization in other projects and MANTA technologies in different jets. The weapon capacity in this jet is a 20 mm internal cannon, it could also fire 2 AIM-9 sidewinder missiles, and up to six AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles.
This jet would threaten all fighters that have previously existed. The top speed is estimated to be 1,500 mph over 2200 fps (feet per second). This project was canceled but its design is incorporated in the NGAD (Next Generation Air Dominance) program it is supposed to replace the F-22 Raptor. To prevent confusion I am calling the NGAD jet the x-44. It is going to have a wedge-shaped tailless design, a similar design to the x-44 concept development. The NGAD will have advanced technologies to have a truckload of new capabilities that will ensure it is superior in aerial combat. This jet has advanced stealth, lethality, and the ability to operate in highly contested environments, making it a crucial asset for the American military.
