"Halloween just happened, and costumes need to be decided for next year, along with if you want to DIY or to buy." -- Logan bergmark 7th grade
Halloween just happened, and costumes need to be decided for next year, along with if you want to DIY or to buy. Both DIY and store bought are good choices, but it gets hard to choose if you don’t already have a method in mind.

DIY has several pros. It can be cheaper than buying a costume, it is customized to fit you, it can be anyone or anything, and it is one of a kind. Amelia Whitcomb, a OSA Literary Arts teacher says she enjoys “Interpreting costume idea myself rather than using someone else’s idea,”

As for store bought costumes, you can have a quick trip to the mall, a few minutes on a website, and get it delivered straight to your door. You don’t even need to go outside.

DIY can take a while, and is hard to get a good costume out of if you don’t have specific skills, it can be less elaborate, and it takes a lot of materials, and Lucy Dennis, a 6th grader in Literary Arts says that when “Making your own costume, it can easily break.” Store bought costumes are usually overpriced, and made of cheap materials. They aren’t made for comfort, and don’t have a wide range of characters.

Both Store bought and DIY have their pros and cons. Do you make a costume or buy one? The choice is up to you.
