Many have been protesting against the Trump and Elon Musk partnership, but recently a funny and creative protest interrupted televisions in a government building. After Trump had referred to himself as a monarch on a Truth Social post writing, “LONG LIVE THE KING!” A week later on February 24, a wild 19- seconds-long, AI-generated video of Trump licking Elon Musk’s toes, played on repeat for minutes.. The hilarious video displayed the text, “LONG LIVE THE REAL KING,” a protest for Elon “taking over office” and doing more than Trump according to protestors.
The looped video disturbed all of the televisions in the Department of Housing and Urban Development building. According to journalist Marisa Kabas, it only ended after building staff went to every floor to unplug the TVs. Margaret Hartmann, a senior editor for Intelligencer, also comments, “the culprit wasn’t publicly identified, but they had posted they had been caught and had been escorted off the property.”

But why are people referring to Elon Musk as the real king, or rather, the real president? Lawrence O’ Donnell, an anti-Trump television actor and anchor, counted Musks and Trumps spoken words at the executive order signing, and concluded that Musk has been taking over and doing more of Trump’s work, since the President has only spoken 2,487 words, while Musk had 3,666 spoken words. Lawrence isn’t the only person who believes Elon is taking over. Shane Brennan and Shannon Marvel McNaught, who are news journalists for Delaware online, visited different rallies against the Trump and Elon Musk partnership. According to both journalists, around 150-170 protestors were at some protests in an indivisible New York first state rally, and along the Coastal Highway in Rehoboth. In Newark, about 300 people marched to celebrate International Women's Day,and rally against the cut to federal services and agencies led by Elon Musk and President Donald Trump.
Protest signs went along the lines of “Regulate Crypto, not Women’s Bodies , STOP THE ABUSE,” and, “How long will it take? Will my granddaughter have equal rights?” Chandeliers Duster and Juliana Kim, journalists for NPR, say “thousands of people protested in Washington, D.C., and across the country on Presidents Day.” To show the importance of the matter, people chanted and marched in nearly 40-degree temperatures with 20 mile-per-hour wind gusts. Signs went along the lines of “NO ONE VOTED FOR MUSK!,” as no one voted for his heavy involvement in the presidency.

And his sudden involvement in the presidency is confusing as well. Back in 2016, Musk criticized Donald Trump when he was in office. And all the sudden Musk is all about supporting Trump, almost like they’re best friends. As the richest man, he quickly became an important person in the Trump administration as he donated millions to support his cause. BBC News writers, Tom Espiner, Theo Legget, and Lucy Hooker chronicle Elon and Trump’s friendship in their article “Trump says anti-Tesla protestors will face ‘hell’”, showing how Trump is all about being best friends and supporting his new buddy Elon too. In a White House media event designed to help Elon’s car company, Tesla, Trump sat in the driver's seat of a brand new red Tesla with Elon in the passenger's seat.
Trump stated “boycotting and protesting against Tesla was illegal,” and “protestors should be labeled as domestic terrorists,” although the very constitution that started this independent country, the Declaration of Independence, asserts that people have the right to revolution and rebellions. Donald Trump said “they were harming a great American company,” and that protestors would “go to hell.”
According to Hafiz Rashid, Trump invited Elon over for a $1 million dollars per plate secret dinner party for a Trump speech. It’s known that President Trump and Elon Musk sat together. As people work harder to demote Elon, when will changes finally be made in the Trump administration?
